On October 5, Knowmadics signed an agreement with Wichita State University (WSU) for an exciting new collaborative space security initiative. The first of several contracts anticipated between KMI and WSU, this project is designed to identify potential anomalies in satellite operations and, if possible, restore an affected satellite to full working order. Given WSU’s top notch cyber degree program and their rich history in aerospace research and academics, they’re an ideal partner for this effort. We are anxious to get started!
The work will be done through WSU’s National Institute for Research and Digital Transformation (NIRDT) led by Pierre Harter, Associate Vice President of Research Operations for WSU’s Industry and Defense Programs. Assistant Professor of Business Analytics Ross Gruetzemacher, an expert in data science and artificial intelligence, will serve as the technical lead.
We are strong believers in the talent and innovation to be found at WSU. We consider ourselves fortunate to not only be able to leverage their current faculty and student body, but also to access the state-of-the-art resources and equipment at the new Digital Research and Transformation Hub building on the main campus.
Entering into this agreement with WSU is Knowmadics’ latest step in growing our footprint in Wichita, an area long known for innovation and leadership in aerospace and aviation. Last year, we announced development of a new Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE) for national cybersecurity initiatives at Groover Labs’ 42,000-square-foot facility in downtown Wichita. And earlier in 2022, we signed an agreement with Friends University to develop cyber training curricula, especially geared toward the abundance of active duty and military veterans and their spouses in the region.
We appreciate the warm welcome we have received from the WSU community, and especially from the Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR), who even highlighted Knowmadics in a new video produced for their recent 44th Annual Kansas Economic Trends conference. We are very enthusiastic about the possibilities for growth in this dynamic region that has emerged as a national leader in industry innovation and workforce development.
